because we believe that your opinion is key to explore actual and perceived barriers that prevent a greater application of
citizen science
for supporting environmental compliance. By

we intend the various ways in which public authorities promote, monitor and enforce environmental law and policies (find out more
here
). Ensuring environmental compliance is essential for protecting natural resources and mitigating the impacts of pollution on ecosystems, and on human and animal health. Citizen science practices can be crucial to support environmental compliance!
With the international project

, supported by Horizon Europe funding (Grant agreement 101134447), our partnership aims to leverage citizen science and innovative technologies to ensure that locally collected environmental data and information meets the standards and formats required by authorities for promoting environmental compliance. Citizen science
refers to activities in which non-professional participants contribute to scientific research including data collection and in some cases data analysis to advance knowledge in the environmental field. Note: in the context of citizen science, the reference to citizenship is synonymous with ‘people’, including also those who do not hold specific citizenship rights of a certain nation.
