Take the TWINRD Survey!
|
Dear colleague,
We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping us prioritise technologies to shape Europe’s green and digital future.
What is TWINRD?
TWINRD is a three-year EU-funded project that supports eco-digital futures by advancing the evaluation of Research & Innovation policies around the intertwined progress of green and digital transformations. TWINRD sets out to transform Europe’s macroeconomic modelling to support the Twin Transition, focusing on harmonising sustainable economic development with digital progress.
TWINRD’s Goals
Current models employed at the EU level, although supportive of strategic planning in sustainable research and innovation (R&I), often fail to capture the extensive scope of R&I activities, especially in emerging green and digital technologies.
To address these gaps, TWINRD aims to enhance existing models like GEM-E3 and NEMESIS, as well as develop the new TWINRD macroeconomic model, by integrating innovative and interdisciplinary approaches that more accurately represent R&I policies. This will include the introduction of new data and technology classifications, specifically for green and digital technologies and the refining of the tools to evaluate the impacts of R&I policies on socio-economic and environmental outcomes.
Why We Need You
We are now entering a crucial stage of the project as we are preparing to finalize the list of key technologies that will be analysed in detail — specifically in terms of patent activity, R&D, and technology flow matrices.
Given the breadth of potential technologies, we are asking stakeholders from research, policy, industry, and civil society to help us decide which technologies should be prioritized. Your input will directly influence the focus of our upcoming work.

How Your Input Helps
The survey results will:
- Shape the final list of technologies to be studied in detail in terms of data;
- Feed into the first stakeholders’ workshop, where we will co-design next steps;
- Help us identify synergies with existing modelling initiatives and policy frameworks.
Your responses will also help us target our data collection and modelling work where it can have the most policy relevance and societal impact, including informing European Commission services, national agencies, the JRC, and EU-wide innovation monitoring tools.
Get involved
We appreciate your time and expertise. The survey should take no more than 5–10 minutes. Please feel free to circulate it within your network, and indicate at the end if you would like to be involved in the upcoming workshop in June.
